Rules and Details
- Competition days are from May 18th to June 14th. Each boat entered chooses 3 days out of the time frame to declare for fish days.
- Each boat in the tournament shall text their captain name and boat name to 919-763-5109 to declare their fishing days. The days you choose to fish must be declared before 5am of the day you decide to fish for each of your 3 declarable days.
- Lines can be dropped in at 5am and you can proceed to fish all day. It is the sole responsibility of the crew aboard each boat to stop fishing at safely and timely manner. All fish must be caught on rod and reel, and there shall be no more than six lines fished from any boat.
- Boundaries are from Murrells Inlet to the Frying Pan Shoals off the Cape Fear River Channel. All boats must remain within boundaries during the day you declare to fish while on the water. All boats must remain within boundaries while catching bait.
- The weigh-in station will be located at Mad Kingz Outdoors in Ocean Isle Beach. Fish entered in the competition must be weighed by noon the next day. Make sure your fish is brought in on time, before 12pm the next day after fishing your declared day or it will be disqualified. Only one cobia per day can be weighed.
- To enter the tournament, there is a $100 entry fee for Largest Cobia Overall, and a $100 entry fee for 2 Cobia Aggregate. Tournaments within the tournament include the Calcutta King Mackerel $50, Calcutta Amberjack $50, Youth Angler (18 & under) for the Largest Cobia $50, and The High Roller Event for 2 Cobia Aggregate $500.
- Each fish will be entered into the appropriate category, so the angler receives the greatest prize earnings. If two or more of the fish are the same weight, the winner will be determined by the first fish brought to the scales.
- Total entries determine the amount paid out. 80% of entry fees goes to the boaters. 20% goes to marketing, hosting, and gifts.

- All fish submitted for weigh-in must be in fresh, edible condition caught on the day that was declared. No damaged fish which may impair the fish’s fighting ability will be accepted. Attempted weight alterations of any fish disqualifies the boat from the tournament.
- All fish entered will be marked with a permanent marking so no fish can be double entered in the tournament.
- It is the obligation of the captains and crews of the boat to adhere to all US Coast Guard, NC Wildlife Resource Commission, and NC Marine Fisheries regulations and requirements.
